Round Silencer

Circular silencers are installed in the ductwork between spaces to provide noise reduction that meets or exceeds the sound transmission loss of the separating structure.

Outer Casing: The outer casings of standard circular silencers shall be made of lock-former quality galvanized steel, Type G90 (with options for 316/304 stainless steel or aluminum), in the following gauges:

• OUTSIDE DIA. METAL GAUGE (0-10” w.g+):
  • 300-650 mm: 22 ga
  • 675-1500 mm: 18 ga
  • 1525-2100 mm: 16 ga

Inner Casing: Constructed from 0.7 mm perforated pre-galvanized sheet steel.

Acoustic Infill: The filler material, except for reactive (no media) silencers, shall be inorganic glass fiber with the proper density to achieve the specified acoustic performance. It must be packed with no less than 5% compression to eliminate voids caused by vibration and settling. The material shall be inert, and proof against vermin and moisture.
End Connections: Tapped end ring inserts are standard; alternative connections include spigot or rolled angle flanges.

Performance: A central pod is fitted, constructed from 0.7 mm perforated pre-galvanized sheet steel, with conical, domed, or flat ends as appropriate, also made from pre-galvanized sheet steel.
